MONTSERRAT, SIGHTS AND ATTRACTIONS

I think anyone who has enough time in Barcelona definitely should visit one of the hottest destinations near the city, Mount Montserrat, and the Benedictine convent of Santa María de Montserrat, built on the rocks here.

In addition to the monastery, Montserrat also has many surprises for lovers of mountain hikes. Thanks to that, there are various hiking trails and you can explore most of the mountain, and during the trip you can discover the wonderful fauna of the mountain and the overwhelming view from a height of more than a thousand meters. We were very tired because it was really full day trip in the mountains.

From Barcelona, Plaza de España can be reached in around an hour by the R5 (Barcelona-Manresa) train, which runs every hour. Landing at Aeri de Montserrat or Monistrol de Montserrat station. If you choose the former option, you can reach the monastery by cable car, and if you choose the latter, you can reach the monastery by mountain railway. Combined ticket (round trip train ticket + cable car): approx 20 €
